Neurological Potential of NAD+

NAD+, a metabolite of Vitamin B3, was first discovered in the early 1900s as. Initially, it was administered orally and via intramuscular injection. By the 1960s, NAD+ was purified and began to be used in clinical trials via intravenous application.

A pioneer in NAD+ research was Dr. Birkmeyer, known for his work on the L-dopa protocol for Parkinson’s patients. His son, George Birkmeyer, later found that NAD+ supplementation led to better clinical outcomes in these patients.

Today, NAD+ boosting strategies are emerging as promising interventions for various neurological conditions, including dementia, Alzheimer’s, brain fog, memory loss, and traumatic brain injury. Cognitive improvement remains one of the most commonly reported benefits of NAD+ therapy.

While researchers continue to publish encouraging findings on NAD+ for neurological disorders, more large-scale clinical trials are necessary to fully understand its mechanisms and therapeutic potential.

Age-Related Cognitive Decline

As we age, cognitive decline and neurodegeneration become increasingly common problems. Effective solutions are still limited due to ongoing research into their causes. NAD+ therapy has shown significant promise in addressing various neurological disorders, though further studies are needed to fully understand its potential benefits.

If you are considering NAD+ therapy for a neurological condition, it is important to consult a qualified healthcare professional. The information provided on this website is for informational purposes only and should not be considered medical advice.

Recent Studies

University of Cambridge models show how NAD+ can restore mitochondrial function and prevent neuron loss.

Discusses the link between mitochondrial dysfunction, neurodegeneration, and Parkinson’s disease, as well as strategies to mitigate using NAD+ pathways for neural regeneration.

This research explains how NAD+ is neuroprotective and supports both neuron regeneration and mitochondrial health.
